Local transport

Train

There is no rail connection with the airport. There are plans to build a rail line or make a connection with the Budapest metro line, these plans will probably not be realized earlier than 2010.

Car and bus

The airport is 20 kilometers southeast of the center of Budapest, at the end of Üllői út (“Üllői Street”), one of the most important traffic veins of the Hungarian capital, there is a separate lane for traffic to and from the airport. Within a foreseeable time the new ring road M0 will offer a better connection, especially for those passengers who want to go to other places in Hungary.

Bus line 200 leaves frequently to the subway and train station Köbánya-Kispest, this bus has sufficient space for baggage. Bus line 93 leaves from Terminal 1 every half hour to that same station. The rate for both bus lines is HUF 185.

The Hungarian budget company Wizz Air maintains a shuttle bus connection from Terminal 1 to Budapest.

Car rental - Budapest Ferihegy Airport

In terminals 2A and 2B there are counters for car rental companies: Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National Alamo and Sixt, you can also reserve a rental car in advance using the service EasyTerra provides, they compare the rates of several car rental providers in a single quote.

Taxi

Taxis can be found in front of the Arrivals Halls of Terminals 2A and 2B. Not all the taxis have a meter so you must make a clear arrangement about the price, a ride to the center of Budapest costs approximately HUF 5,500.

There is a counter for the Airport Minibus in the Arrivals Hall (tel: +36(0)1 296 8555), this minibus transports passengers for a fixed rate of HUF 2,300 to each address in Budapest but there must be a sufficient number of passengers going in the same direction.

Airport Parking

Right in front of Terminals 2A and 2B you may park for a maximum of one hour and the cost is HUF 150 per 15 minutes. Slightly further away is a parking lot where you pay approximately HUF 300 per hour. During the summer months (June 1–October 30) an area for long-term parking is also open and the price is HUF 4,000 for the first day, HUF 8,000 for up to four days and HUF 10,000 for up to 15 days, after that it is HUF 500 per day.
