Traffic rules on Curaçao resemble those in the Netherlands, albeit with a few adjustments. It is important to maintain an easygoing driving style. Take it slow and use the brakes frequently. Do not be alarmed when someone moves past your left or right side, even along the banks of the road.

After heavy rains, it is recommended to maintain a 19mph/30kph limit due to slippery roads. Pay attention to T-junctions: traffic driving straight ahead has the right of way.

Maximum speeds are 25mph/40kph in the city, and 50mph/80kph on local roads. In most cases, the minimum age for renting a car is 23 years.

However, the main attraction on the island is Willemstad itself, with its colorful architecture and historical centre, which is often referred to as the 'Amsterdam of the Western Hemisphere'.
