In order to rent a car you must be at least 21 years old (age may vary by car category) and have held your license for one year. Drivers under the age of 25 may incur a young driver surcharge. The maximum age for renting a car is 70.
Non-EU residents need to obtain an International Driver's License in order to drive in Romania. Seatbelts are mandatory, but child's seats are not. Traffic travels on the right and fines can be paid on the spot.
The speed limits are: in the city 37mph/60kph, on open roads 44mph/70kph and on highways 56mph/90kph.
Driving in Romania with a rental car
