Rome Fiumicino Airport (Leonardo da Vinci)
Leonardo da Vinci Airport (FCO airport) is generally called Fiumicino Airport and is the most important airport in Rome. The other airport (Rome Ciampino Airport) is especially used by budget airlines, charter companies, and military traffic. Rome Fiumicino Airport is a busy airport that processed 38,5 million passengers in 2014. In 2016 the number of passengers rose to 41,7 million. Important destinations for Leonardo da Vinci Airport are Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, New York JFK Airport, Catania, Palermo en Milan. About 100 airlines use the airport and fly to more than 200 destinations worldwide.
The airport has four terminals: Terminal 1 (T1) is for domestic flights and flights by KLM, Air France, Croatia Airlines and Etihad Regional, Terminal 2 (T2) is for flights inside the Schengen territory, and Terminal 3 (T2) and Terminal 5 (T5) are for all other international flights. A shuttle bus goes every 20 minutes between the terminals, which also goes to the long-term parking area.
