Berlin airport: Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL)
Berlin Tegel Airport
Berlin, the German capital, has three airports (Tegel, Schoeneveld and the smaller Tempelhof). In 2011 there will be only one airport, Schoenefeld Airport will be renamed Hauptstadt-Airport Berlin-Brandenburg International (BBI). The number of passengers that Tegel processes has grown in the last years. In 2005 almost 12 million travelers used this airport, a 4.5% increase from 2004.
The airport has an hexagonal shaped terminal through which passengers only need to walk short distances, in the middle there is a parking garage. To accommodate the growing number of passengers, a second elongated terminal A1 has been built. Between the two terminals is the main building called “Boulevard Tegel”.
