Driving in Turkey with a rental car
Antalya and Istanbul are the most visited locations in Turkey. The focus is beach and culture respectively. Visitors arriving at Antalya airport usually go to the beach immediately and most beaches are very close to the airport. The distance between Antalya and Istanbul is substantial, the 700 km are unpleasant to drive in one day.
Antalya-Ankara is a 540 km drive although the city of Konya offers a nice pit stop. The charming Mevlana Museum can be found in Konya and it is situated in a monastery. Travelling from Antalya to Ankara is a nice two-day trip.
The perspective from Istanbul is completely different. The Sea of Marmara is easy to reach and a journey to Ankara is recommended as well. The distance is 441 km and an overnight stay in Eskisehir is optional. However, this city is located in an industrial area, do not expect to encounter cultural extravagance here.
